Defiance Baseball out-hit at Wilmington
DEFIANCE, OhioThe Defiance College Baseball team fell 2-12 at Wilmington College (13-10) on Tuesday afternoon and now sit at 9-16 (6-6 HCAC) heading into a critical weekend series at Transylvania University.
Mike Mirabelli got the loss on the hill, going 2.2 innings and striking out two, while allowing six earned runs. James Yenser led the Purple and Gold offensively, going 2-for-4 with an RBI on a fourth-inning double that scored Cris Newcomb. Phil Kosier drove in the other DC run when he singled to right field in the eighth inning, scoring Dusty Ahrens.
Zach Metzner and Chad Casey also saw action on the mound, going 3.1 with one K and 2.0 innings with two Ks, respectively.
The Jackets will head to Transylvania for one game on Friday at 4:00 p.m. and a double header on Saturday, with first pitch scheduled for noon.
Defiance will travel to Adrian College tomorrow for another non-league match-up with the Bulldogs starting at 6:00 p.m.
