March 28 -- Jackets lose lead in ninth, fall 4-5 to Quakers

--Defiance, Ohio--DC Baseball fell to the Quakers of Wilmington College 4-5 on Sunday afternoon at Rutter Field.

The Jackets led 4-3 going into the top of the ninth, but gave up two runs on a Aaron Lawson single up the middle that gave Wilmington the win. DC had earned the lead with a 3-run bottom of the eighth performance that saw Matt Tycast hit his second double of the game, scoring Richard Trick who had doubled himself. Eric Schwab came up clutch, roping a single to left center that scored both Jason Smolenski and Tycast.

Freshman Preston Fry was impressive in 5.2 innings of work, giving-up just three earned runs on three hits with two strike outs. James Roberson and James Yenser appeared late in the contest, giving-up one run each, while Roberson struck out two.

Offensively, Tycast led the Yellow Jackets with a 2-for-4 day with the two huge doubles and one RBI. Ryan Leininger also went 2-for-4 while Jake Linder, Trick, Schwab, and Tony Ebersole had one hit apiece. Trick and Linder each hit two-baggers.

Lawson was a Jacket-killer and responsible for every Quaker run, scoring two and batting in three on his 2-for-4 afternoon.

James Yenser got the loss in his one inning of work, while Burt Cox earned the win for Wilmington.

DC, now 3-11, will host Adrian at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Rutter Field.
