DC Cross Country at All-Ohio Championship

DELAWARE, Ohio - The Defiance College Cross Country team took part in one of its tougher meets at the All-Ohio Championship, facing teams from the NAIA and all three NCAA divisions.

Despite the tough competition and hilly terrain, the Yellow Jackets held their own. Travis Treece led the men to a 19th place team finish out of all Division III runners and 38th place team finish overall with a time of 31:37.70. Nic Alvarez finished 31:56.70 despite a rough start in which he fell at the beginning of the race and was spiked. Ryan Nusbaum, Adam Fullenkamp, and William Wilson were the final placers for DC, giving a great effort at the end of the race.

For the women, Jamie Hamilton led DC to a 17th place team finish in Division III and a 37th place team finish overall. She led all DC runners with a time of 23:03.00. Sarah Stopke, Paula Stambaugh, and Amanda Zimmermen were the next three Jacket runners to place, coming in with times of 24:35.20, 24:37.30, and 24:43.80. Kelly Neff, Kyrie McDonald, and Kasey Carlisle rounded out the final DC runners, with Carlisle running a season-best time of 26:20.9.

Defiance will run this Saturday in the Manchester Invitational.
