DELAWARE, Ohio The Defiance College men’s and women’s cross country teams competed in the All-Ohio Championships in Delaware, Ohio on Friday, October 5. The men finished 18th out of 20teams, while the women finished 19th out of 22.
The freshman combination of Kaitlyn Switzer and Courtney Lantz once again led Defiance finishing the 5K race in 22:45 and 22:54 respectively. Kelly Neff (24:32), Amanda Zimmerman(24:54), and Kathryn Fedele(29:00) closed out the top five for the women.
The men’s squad continued to run in a pack as the first five runners finished within 18 places of each other. Nic Alvarez was the first runner for the men’s squad to finish the treacherous course, crossing the line in 31:23. Freshmen Seth Bidlack (33:11), Troy Secrest (33:19), and Issac Wilkins (35:52) along with junior Ryan Nusbaum (36:06) rounded out the top five for the Jackets.
The Yellow Jackets will travel to North Manchester, Ind. next Saturday, October 13 for the Manchester Invitational.
