DC Cross Country takes third in Bluffton Invite
BLUFFTON, Ohio The Defiance College Cross Country team took part in the Bluffton Invitational Friday evening, taking third place out of four.
The women participated in a 6k race with all the runners performing very well. Jaime Hamilton, who is coming off of an injury that has kept her out of competition thus far this season, ran in her first race of the season and was the top finisher for the Yellow Jackets. She finished 11th with a time of 27:57.00. Paula Stambaugh, Amanda Zimmerman, and Kelly Neff each finished closely behind Hamilton with times of 29:10, 29:53, and 30:15, respectively. Sarah Stopke, Kyrie McDonald, and Kasey Carlisle rounded out the final finishers for Defiance.
On the men's side, Travis Treece and Nic Alvarez led DC with 15th and 16th place finishes and times of 29:59 and 30:05, respectively. Ryan Nusbaum ran in his first race, finishing in 33rd place, clocking in at 33:50. Adam Fullenkamp, Chris Brown and William Wilson were the final finishers for the Yellow Jackets, coming in 34th, 35th, 37th place with times of 35:26, 37:08 and 42:43, respectively. Wilson’s finish was a personal best, the second straight race that Wilson has beaten his previous time.
Defiance will take part in the All-Ohio Championship at Delaware on Friday. The first race is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
