BLUFFTON, Ohio – Kaitlin Switzer finished fifth to lead the women and Tyler Reese took eighth to pace the Defiance men as the Yellow Jackets ran in the Bluffton Beaver Invitational on Friday evening.
Switzer finished the course with a time of 26:05.35 and ended fifth out of 27 runners at the event. Courtney Lantz and Kelly Neff also turned in solid efforts as Lantz ran a 27:06.56 to take 13th and Neff crossed the line at 29:07.37.
The men’s squad edged Bluffton and Ohio Dominican for a second-place showing in the team standings. Reese led the way with an eighth-place finish and a time of 29:11.22, while Nic Alvarez (29:37.78) and Seth Bidlack (30:52.78) each recorded top-20 finishes in the 38-man race.
Defiance will compete next at the All-Ohio Championships in Delaware, Ohio on October 5.
