HANOVER, Ind. The Defiance College men’s and women’s cross country teams competed in the HCAC Championships at Hanover College on Saturday, October 27. The men’s team earned a seventh place finish, while the women finished the meet in eighth.
Senior Nic Alvarez led the men, finishing the 8k race in 29:22 good for 29th. Tyler Reese was the next DC runner to cross the finish line, placing 32nd with a time of 29:55. The Yellow Jackets’ next three runners finished in a pack, as frosh Seth Bidlack (31:21), Issac Wilkins (31:43) and Andrew Baker (31:49) came across the line in 44th, 46th and 48th respectively.
On the women’s side, freshman Courtney Lantz led the way with a 27th place finish (25:40) in her first trip to the HCAC Championships. Kaitlyn Switzer crossed the line next for DC in 35th place with a time of 26:25. Kelly Neff, Amanda Zimmerman and Kathy Fedele rounded out the top five for Defiance, finishing 43rd (27:50), 44th (28:09) and 55th (32:01) respectively.
