DEFIANCE, Ohio – Nic Cass added another postseason honor to his collection on Tuesday, as D3Football.com named the junior corner as a Second-Team All-North Region selection for his efforts on the football field during the 2006 campaign.
Cass played a shutdown corner all season long for Defiance, recording 27 of his 42 tackles via the solo variety and earning three stops for lost yards. The Roseville, Mich., native led the Heartland Conference with five interceptions and was second in the league with 12 pass breakups while also ranking 40th and 52nd nationally in those categories.
Cass turned in his best performance of the season and earned HCAC Defensive Player-of-the-Week honors after picking off three passes in the fourth quarter of Defiance’s 20-10 win over Hanover. Cass sealed the victory by running the third pick back 22 yards for a touchdown with just over one minute to play.
