DEFIANCE, Ohio One week after garnering First Team All-North Region honors, Luke Dillon has been selected to the www.D3football.com All-American Team. Dillon was one of 100 players to be named All-American, earning an Honorable Mention nod.
With the selection, Dillon becomes Defiance’s first All-American since Scott Heighland and Ryan Pfefferle were each named Honorable Mention after the 2003 season. Dillon is the third Yellow Jacket to become an All-American under the watchful eye of head coach Rob Taylor.
The explosive wide receiver ends his career as one of the finest at his position to come through the Defiance program. Dillon is the school’s all-time leader with 28 career receiving touchdowns and also holds the single-game and single-season records for receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns.
Dillon’s 2007 campaign was his finest, as he ranked sixth in the nation with 9.3 catches per game and 124.1 yards per game. The Temperance, Mich., native was named as the HCAC’s Co-Offensive Most Valuable Player after totaling 93 receptions for 1,241 yards and 14 touchdowns.
