Jackets fall to Adrian

--Adrian, Mich-- The Yellow Jackets had another rough outing on Saturday, falling 34-0 to Adrian College in Adrian, Michigan.

The Bulldogs used a 450-269 advantage in total yards to control the game and pulled away with 13 fourth-quarter points. 292 of Adrian’s yards came on the ground, while DC threw the ball well with senior Patrick Henry completing 17-of-33 for 189 yards. Freshman Darin Lomason rushed for 58 yards on 19 carries in a losing cause.

Mike Haydon highlighted the Jacket defense, registering 13 tackles (10 solo) and picking-off a first-quarter Matt Peterson pass and returning it 21 yards into Bulldogs territory. Kris Zajac had nine tackles for the Jackets, including a sack.

Chris Clay and Mike Lewis were thorns in the Jackets’ sides all game. Clay rushed for 177 yards on 20 carries for an 8.6 yard-average. Lewis dominated on the defensive line with six tackles, four tackles-for-loss, three sacks, and two passes batted-down.

The Jackets punted on their first possession and kicker Keith Wilson missed a 27-yard field goal after a 12-play, 63-yard second Jacket drive. DC was forced to punt on their next four possessions and went into the half down 21-0 after a Jon Servoss seven-yard run in the first quarter and two first-half rushing touchdowns by Chris Wilson

In the second half, Adrian controlled the battle for field position and forced across two more scores, another Servoss score on a 28-yard reception from Patterson, and a D.J. Howard 57-yard reception from Patterson.

The Jackets punted on four-of-five second-half possessions and went 0-for-3 in the red zone for the game.

Aaron Schmidt led the Jackets in receiving with seven receptions for 83 yards, while Jason Brown added 62 yards on five grabs.

Blake Stambaugh punted extremely well, averaging 41.1 yards on eight punts, putting two inside the 20 yard line.

The Jackets, now 0-2 on the season, will travel to Bethany College in West Virginia next Saturday for a 1:30 p.m. game against the Bison.
