--Defiance, Ohio—The DC Yellow Jackets dropped their fourth contest of the season, 27-10 to Anderson University on Saturday at Justin F. Coressel Stadium.

In his first collegiate start, freshman Nate Fitton, a Potterville High School (Michigan) graduate, quarterbacked the Jackets and rushed for 138 yards on 21 carries, while throwing for 113 yards on 11-for-27 passing with no interceptions. Darin Lomason, also a freshman, rushed for 52 yards and caught five passes for 48 yards. Jimmy Biggs, a DC newcomer from Marshall, Michigan, caught two passes for 42 yards.

The DC defense played Anderson rushing attack well, holding last week’s national player of the week, Denny Kimmel to 58 yards on 15. Raven freshman quarterback Chris McKee threw for 323 yards on 28-of-47 passing. 143 of those yards went to Hyman Smith, who made nine receptions.

Steven Brancheau led the Jacket defense with nine tackles (seven solo) and 1.5 tackles-for-loss. Freshman Nick Cass had eight tackles from his safety position. Josh Staggs and Zac Fulmer each had a sack for DC.

Anderson jumped into the lead first, on a two-yard run by Alphonzo Rose with 2:20 remaining in the first quarter. DC came back, driving down to the Anderson 18-yard line before Keith Wilson converted on a 35-yard field goal attempt. The Ravens put two more scores on the board before the half, a Hyman Smith 68-yard touchdown reception and a Denny Kimmel one-yard plunge.

Defiance went into the half down 20-3 and after 10 minutes of play in the third, trailed 27-3 when Kimmel scampered in on a 12-yard inside screen pass. The Jackets hung tough and marched down the field on several key runs by Fitton. The Grand Ledge, Michigan product sprinted in from 14 yards out with 2:35 left in the third for the final score of the game, 27-10.

DC falls to 0-4 on the year and 0-2 in the HCAC while Anderson is now 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the HCAC.

The Jackets will next travel to Hanover College on Saturday, October 16h, to face the Panthers at 2:30 p.m.(CST).
