Jackets fall in season finale at Bethany

--Bethany, W. Va.—The Defiance College Yellow Jackets lost 28-35 in the last game of the ’04 season to Bethany College in Bethany, West Virginia on Saturday.

The Bison passing game did in the Jackets as the Bison threw for 359 yards on 22-of -53 passing and two touchdowns. Darin Lomason and the offensive line kept DC in the game with 141 yards and one touchdown, while Marshall Weathers netted 36 yards and two rushing scores. Nate Fitton threw 17 times, completing five passes for 67 yards with an interception.

Aaron Schmidt led Defiance in receiving with two grabs for 40 yards. Freshman Gary Allen had a big kick return of 51 yards in the first half, while Blake Stambaugh and Greg Shoop punted six times for a 32.7 yard average.

Steven Brancheau had a big defensive day, accumulating 10 tackles including four for loss. Nick Cass had eight tackles and one sack., while Jeremy McBride registered eight stops and knocked-down one pass.

Defiance ends the season with a 1-9 record and a 0-5 mark in the HCAC.
