Lomason rushes for 128 yards in Jacket loss to Case
--Defiance, OhioThe Defiance College Football squad fell 10-12 to Case Western at Coressel Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Darin Lomason led the DC offensive attack with the first 100-yard performance of his collegiate career. The Prescott, Michigan native ran for 128 yards on 34 carries. Nate Fitton, a freshman quarterback from Grand Ledge, Michigan scored the lone touchdown for DC on a 2-yard scamper on fourth and goal in the fourth quarter.
Alex Harvey eventually broke the Jackets by connecting on key long passes to David Kallevig and Scott Greer. Harvey threw for 239 yards on 17-of-29 passing with two touchdowns. Patrtck Henry threw for 89 yards on 9-of-29 passing and one interception.
The Jackets drove down to the Spartan 10-yard line in the third quarter, but threw a costly interception on a fade route to end the threat. Case took the turnover and marched 80 yards for a touchdown on a seven-yard pass from Harvey to Joe Digeronimo.
Tyler Haines led the Jacket defense with seven tackles, including 2.5 for loss. Zac Fulmer penetrated the middle from his defensive tackle position for seven tackles and 1.5 tackles-for-loss. Alfredo Delgado had six tackles and a half-tackle for loss from his defensive end spot.
The Spartans were led on defense by Tom Brew with 12 tackles, including 1.4 for-loss.
Defiance led in time-of-possession with 33:03 compared to 26:57 for the Spartans. Blake Stambaugh booted six punts for an average of 40.7 yards-per-punt. Kieth Wilson connected on a 39-yard field goal in the third quarter after missing a 42-yarder in the first.
Defiance is now 0-3 on the season and will open HCAC play next Saturday when they host the 3-1 Anderson University Ravens who beat Franklin 45-43 on Saturday.
Case is now 3-2 and will host Maryville College on Saturday, October 9th.
