Jacket Special Teams Rank Nationally
--Defiance, OhioDefiance College’s Blake Stambaugh and Keith Wilson have both kicked their way onto the NCAA top-25 lists for punting and field goal kicking, respectively.
Stambaugh, a junior punter, ranks seventh in Division III football, with a 41.4-yard average per-punt. The Swanton, Ohio (Swanton) product has a long boot of 57, coming last week against Anderson University. He has also landed two punts inside the 20-yardline, punted three touchbacks, and has not had a punt blocked this season.
Wilson, also a junior, has kicked well for the Jackets this fall. The Indianapolis (Lawrence Central) native, is 20th in the nation with an average of 1.0 field goals per-game. The DC kicker converted on attempts of 37 and 32 in the season opener vs. Otterbein, kicked his season-long of 39-yards against Case Western, and drove a 35-yarder through in Saturday’s game versus Anderson University.
The Yellow Jackets are 0-4 on the year and 0-1 in the HCAC. Stambaugh, Wilson, and the rest of the Jackets have an opportunity to turn the tide on Saturday at Hanover College. Kick-off is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. (CST).
