DC Football Completes Restoration Project in New Orleans

DEFIANCE, Ohio – Members of the Defiance College football team recently traveled to New Orleans, La., to assist with the ongoing restoration of the city which was ravaged by hurricane Katrina during the final week of August, 2005.

Head Coach Robert Taylor joined players Kyle Fuller, Mike Haydon, John Lancaster, Andrew Mickey, Robert Miller, Josh Roe, Josh Staggs and Eric Stricklin in making up an eight-man crew which traveled 30 hours and spent seven days on the service project.

The group worked with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes throughout the trip which spanned Dec. 16-22 and was funded by Defiance College’s McMaster School.

During their stay in New Orleans, the DC football team spent a majority of its time gutting damaged homes, while also assisting with a Toys for Tots event and handing out clothes and supplies to the homeless.
