Zajac named National Player of the Week

DEFIANCE, Ohio—Defiance College’s Kris Zajac has been named one of the Football Gazette’s National Players of the Week for his performance last Saturday against Bethany College.

Zajac (Grosse Ile, Mich.- Grosse Ile HS) recorded 18 tackles in DC’s 29-26 win over Bethany College. Twelve of those stops were solo tackles, while the strong safety also set Heartland Conference season-highs with 4.0 sacks and 5.0 tackles-for-loss.

Zajac has totaled 23 tackles on the season and ranks 22nd nationally with an average of 1.3 sacks-per-game.

The DC senior was one of only two NCAA Division III defensive players selected to the list.

The Jackets return action on October 1 at Case Western Reserve when they take on the Spartans at 6:00 p.m.
