DC’s Vetter named Heartland Player of the Week
DEFIANCE, Ohio-- Defiance College’s Hans Vetter (Toledo, Ohio/Springfield) has been named the Heartland Conference’s Offensive Player of the week.
Vetter helped the Yellow Jackets secure second-place in the HCAC standings by virtue of a 41-14 win over host Bluffton University on Nov. 12. The freshman quarterback accounted for three touchdowns in the contest. He finished 9-of-19 passing for 164 yards and had a 59-yard touchdown pass to teammate Luke Dillon. Vetter also did damage on the ground rushing for 89 yards on just 10 carries. He rushed for touchdowns from ten-yards and one-yard out.
Vetter completed the 2005 season as the team’s leading rusher (361 yards on 90 carries) and leading passer (1,052 yards on 147 attempts). He led the team in rushing touchdowns with six and also added 13 touchdown passes. Defiance finished 6-4 overall and 4-2 in the HCAC.
