Jackets lose at Anderson

ANDERSON, Ind.—The Defiance College Yellow Jackets fell at Anderson University on Wednesday night, 71-90, dropping to 8-13 overall and 1-10 in the Heartland Conference.

Anthony Pettaway had team-highs in points with 13 and rebounds with seven, while Curt Croy and C.J. Johnson added 11 and 10 points, respectively. The Ravens were paced by 24 J.D. Clampitt points, and out-rebounded the Jackets 48-27. Defiance shot 43% from the floor to AU’s 51%.

Anderson was led inside by Terry Coleman and John Baute who each pulled-down double-digit rebounds. The final three minutes of the first-half saw Anderson begin to pull away. Pettaway had closed the gap to 34-37 at the four-minute mark with a jumper in the paint, but a 14-7 Raven run resulted in a 51-41 home advantage at the break.

An 11-0 Anderson run out of the intermission gave the Ravens a commanding 62-41 edge three-minutes into the second half. The hosts maintained a near-20 point lead for the remainder of the game.

The Jackets will travel to Hanover College on Saturday for a 3:00 p.m. game with the Panthers.
