Defiance's Miller and Pettaway Garner NABC Honors

DEFIANCE, Ohio – The National Association of Basketball Coaches has honored Defiance College’s Anthony Pettaway and Jon Miller. The NABC named Pettaway as a NCAA Division III Midwest All-District First Team selection and named Miller as the Midwest District Coach of the Year.

The All-District honor was the second in as many days for Pettaway, who was named to the D3hoops.com All-Midwest Region Third Team on Wednesday. The junior center averaged 15.7 points and 8.0 rebounds a night for Defiance during the 2007-2008 campaign and was also tabbed as the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year. Pettaway was one of only six players selected from the Midwest Region to earn first team honors.

Miller garnered his second Coach-of-the-Year honor this season, adding the NABC Midwest District Coach-of-the-Year honor to his HCAC Coach-of-the-Year award. Miller led the Yellow Jackets to a 19-8 overall record and a 13-3 clip in league action for his finest season at the helm of the DC program. The fifth-year head coach guided Defiance to its first outright conference championship since 1994 and its second-straight appearance in the HCAC Finals.

The NABC All-District teams are selected and voted on by the member coaches of the National Association of Basketball Coaches.
