Pettaway Named to D3hoops.com All-Region Team

DEFIANCE, Ohio – Defiance College’s Anthony Pettaway has been selected to the All-Midwest Region Team as announced by www.D3hoops.com on Wednesday. Pettaway was named Third-Team All-Region and was the lone player from the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference to make the list.

The team is broken up into three rosters made up of two guards, two forwards and one center on each squad. Pettaway joined Elmhurst’s Brent Ruch and Wheaton’s Andy Wiele as the only centers to be recognized from the Midwest Region.

The honor is the latest in a season full of accolades for Pettaway who was tabbed as a Preseason All-American by the Basketball Times and went on to be named the HCAC Player of the Year after helping the Yellow Jackets to a 19-8 record and DC’s first outright regular season conference championship since the 1993-94 season.

Pettaway was named Third-Team All-Midwest Region.

Pettaway ended the season ranked among the top three players in the HCAC with 16.2 points, 8.7 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per night in league games and ended the year on a tear. Over DC’s final nine games, the six-foot, eight-inch junior logged seven double-doubles, led the team in points and rebounding eight times and netted 22.1 points, 10.3 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game, while hitting at a 66.7-percent clip from the field.

Pettaway’s late-season surge vaulted him over the 1,000-point barrier for his career and put him at 1,024 total points entering his final collegiate campaign.
