DEFIANCE, Ohio Just days after leading Defiance College to the 2008 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference regular season championship, Anthony Pettaway garnered national recognition. The junior was one of five players selected to the www.D3hoops.com National Team of the Week.
Pettaway averaged 27.0 points, 12.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals in Defiance’s victories over Manchester and Transylvania, while shooting 66.7 percent from the floor. Pettaway scored 27 points and set new career highs with 15 rebounds and three steals in an overtime victory at Manchester, before his 27-point, 10-board effort helped DC clinch the HCAC championship against Transylvania on Saturday.
Pettaway currently ranks among the HCAC leaders in scoring (16.3 ppg), rebounding (8.9 rpg), field goal percentage (60.8 percent) and steals (1.6 spg) in league play. The Toledo, Ohio, native has posted over 20 points and 10 boards in his last six outings and has climbed to within 28 points of joining the 1,000-point club for his career.

Pettaway has also been named as the HCAC December Athlete of the Month and is a two-time HCAC Player of the Week in 2007-2008.
Pettaway and the Jackets (18-6, 13-2 HCAC) will host Rose-Hulman on Saturday at 3:00 pm in the final game of the regular season. Seniors C.J. Johnson and Bryan Post will be honored prior to the start of the game.
