| GREENWOOD, Ind. – Nick Sales was named as the Player of the Week in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference after helping Defiance to the Case Western Holiday Tournament Championship by averaging 19.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1.0 blocks in DC’s pair of victories. Sales was nearly flawless from the floor, sinking 18-of-22 shots and was named as the tournament MVP.
The freshman forward hit nine-of-10 shots on Friday en route to a 20-point, nine-rebound, two-steal performance which helped Defiance past Juniata by a 79-56 score. Sales backed that showing up with a similar stat line on Saturday in the championship game, when he posted a double-double with 19 points on nine-of-12 shooting, 12 boards, two blocks and a steal in the Yellow Jackets’ 76-71 win over Illinois College.
Sales is currently averaging 13.6 points and 8.5 rebounds per game for Defiance and is leading the HCAC by shooting 69 percent from the field. The Barberton, Ohio, native is also among the top-five players in the conference in blocksand rebounds and has recorded four double-doubles in 11 collegiate games.
