Jackets lose second-half lead to Panthers
HANOVER, Ind.The DC men’s basketball team fell to Hanover, 55-65 at Collier Arena in Hanover, Indiana on Saturday afternoon.
Curt Croy led DC with 18 points on 7-of-15 shooting. C.J. Johnson was the only other Jacket in double-figures with 16, while Trent Meyer scored nine points on three three-pointers. DC was outrebounded 24-34 by the Panthers and were, again, outshot at the free-throw line (5-8 to 13-17).
HC’s Ben Lye led all scorers with 20 points and also grabbed a game-high eight rebounds. Hanover capitalized on 12 offensive rebounds with nine coming in the second half.
The Jackets led 33-29 at the half after 15 first-half points by Croy. DC maintained a five-point lead until the midway point of the second half when Lye scored a lay-in to make cut the DC lead to 48-45.
The Panthers would outscore the Jackets 22-7 in the final ten minutes of the game to take the win.
DC is now 7-10 on the year with an 0-6 mark in HCAC. Hanover is now 13-4 overall and 4-2 in the Heartland Conference.
The Jackets will next host the Bluffton Beavers on Wednesday at the Karl H. Weaner Center. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m.
