Pettaway Nets 15 in Loss at Transylvania

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Defiance ran into a red-hot Transylvania team on Saturday and fell 74-50 to the host Pioneer squad. The game was the second-straight contest in which DC’s opponent shot 57 percent or better from the floor en route to handing the Jackets a road loss.

Transylvania drilled 14-of-24 shots in the opening period for 58.3 percent, while the Jackets struggled to half the made shots in the same amount of attempts for a 29.2-percent clip.

The difference translated into a 37-19 lead at intermission for Transy and sent the Pioneers to the 24-point victory.

Anthony Pettaway connected on seven-of-10 shots and hit a free throw for his team-leading 15 points. C.J. Johnson added nine points and Eric Stolly and Bryan Post each score six off the bench for the Yellow Jackets.

Pettaway led DC with 15 points.

Transy placed a trio of players in double figures as Gary Mouser, Nick Feagan and Tim Tierney combined to sink 16-of-25 shots for 44 Pioneer points.

Defiance (10-4, 4-3 HCAC) will look to get back on track when it hosts Franklin on Wednesday at 7:30 pm.
