HCAC Championship Results - Day Two

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Defiance improved its team score by 10 strokes on day two of the 2007 Men’s Golf Heartland Conference Championships and Cody Anderson jumped from 22nd to 10th in the standings at the four-round tournament’s midway point.

Defiance saw four of its five players post lower scores on day two and shaved its team score to 365 for a two-day total of 740. The Jackets remain it eighth despite the improvement.

Anderson fired a second-round 80 to climb 12 slots on the leader board and into a tie for 10th. Craig Holman and Ryan Gladieux each improved by a single stroke and sit in 32nd and 37th position to round out DC’s top three competitors.

The four-time defending HCAC champion, Franklin College, holds a 10-shot lead in the team standings over Transylvania in what has turned into a two-team race for the title.

FC’s Justin Ridge maintained his perch atop the individual leader board with a 76 and holds a seven-shot lead over the next closest individual, Transy’s Corey Maggard.

The tournament will now move to Anderson, Ind., on May 4-5 for the final 36 holes of the event. An automatic bid to the NCAA Division III National Championships will be awarded to the HCAC winner.
