Men's Golf Wraps Up Season at HCAC Championships

FT. WAYNE, Ind. – The 2008 spring season came to an end on Saturday for the Defiance College men’s golf team with a seventh place finish in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships.

Cody Anderson, Craig Holman and Aaron Konold each braved the tough elements to improve their fourth round scores by at least three stokes from round three. Anderson ended the tournament in a tie for 16th in the individual standings to lead the Yellow Jackets, while Holman ended 22nd and Konold took 30th.

Josh Calame was the fourth and final DC athlete to place in the event, taking 33rd position. Jace Neal and Greg Vogt also competed in the event for Defiance, but did not place in the standings due to only playing two rounds each.

Transylvania led from wire to wire and took the team crown by 61 shots over second-place Franklin. Anderson finished third, while Manchester and Rose-Hulman rounded out the top five.
Anderson took 16th and ended
as DC's top finisher.

Transy’s Bradley Sutherland took home individual medalist honors, while Franklin’s Eric Whitaker was named the HCAC Freshman of the Year after ending in a tie for fourth.
