DC Competes at Manchester Invitational

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Defiance competed in the Manchester Invitational in Fort Wayne, Ind., on Saturday morning. The scheduled two-round event was stopped after only 18 holes due to poor playing conditions.

Jace Neal turned in the Yellow Jackets’ top finish, ending in 32nd after carding a one-round total of 88. Neal was followed by Josh Calame (89), Cody Anderson (93), Aaron Konold (94) and Greg Vogt (102).

Hope won the team title with a 319 to edge a host of HCAC contenders in the team standings. Transylvania (323), Franklin (330), Anderson (333) and Rose-Hulman (342) rounded out the top five, while DC shot a 364 and finished ninth in the nine-team tournament.

The top individual performance was turned in by Hope’s Thomas Yamaoka who won the event by five strokes with a 73. Transy’s Bradley Sutherland ended second with a 78, and Hope’s Don Kiring took third with a 79.

Neal led DC at MC Invite with a round of 88 on Saturday.

DC will host its second event of the spring season on Tuesday with the DC Spring Fling beginning at 1:30 pm at Kettenring Country Club.
