Men's Golf Opens Spring Season at Manchester Invite

N. MANCHESTER, Indiana – Craig Holman and Cody Anderson each took home top-20 finishes as Defiance kicked off its spring season with a two-round event hosted by Manchester College on Saturday.

Holman ended in a tie for 14th with a score of 162 and was just two strokes shy of a top-10 showing. The Wauseon, Ohio, native opened with an 83 before making his charge up the standings with a second-round 79.

Anderson ended two shots back of Holman and ended in a three-way tie for 17th position with a two-round total of 164. The dual-sport athlete posted a 79 in the first round before shooting an 85 in round two.

Huntington’s Spencer Batt won the individual title with a combined total of 149 and Franklin took the next three spots in the standings to edge Huntington by one stroke for the team championship.

Manchester, Rose-Hulman and Calvin rounded out the top five, with Mount St. Joseph and Defiance ending in sixth and seventh place.

The Yellow Jackets will be back in action on Thursday and Friday when they compete in the Tiffin Invitational.
