DC Men's Soccer picked to finish fifth in the HCAC

GREENWOOD, Ind.—The Defiance College Men’s Soccer Team has been selected to finish fifth in the conference in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Preseason Poll, earning 45 points in the poll.

In 2005, the Jackets finished 6-11-0 overall and 4-3-0 in the HCAC, where they tied for fourth in the conference. This season will see some changes for DC, as the team enters the year with a new coach and two returning all-conference athletes. Alden Lawrence enters his first year at the helm of the Yellow Jacket soccer program after spending one season as the men’s and women’s head coach at Bethany College. Junior Karl Eustache returns after for his third season as a Yellow Jacket after a year which saw him named to the All-HCAC First Team. Junior Ryan Rothermel also returns a year removed from being named to the All-HCAC Second Team.

The 2006 HCAC men’soccer season is scheduled to begin on September 1st, with the Yellow Jackets opening up the year at home in the Defiance Classic September 2nd.
