Yellow Jackets Win Home Opener

--Defiance, Ohio—The Defiance College men’s soccer team posted a 3-2 victory over the Bulldogs of Adrian in its home opener.

The Yellow Jackets held the Bulldogs to a scoreless stalemate until Adrian’s Eric Drake scored the first goal of the game with eight minutes left in the first half. Down by one entering the second half, Defiance exploded for three unanswered goals by Dan Walther (assisted by Kevin Tanceusu), Karl Eustache (assisted by Benji Hughes), and Tino Black (assisted by Eustache). Eustache and Black’s goal came less than a minute apart with about 15 minutes left to go in the half. Adrian’s Yuma Ohno scored with eight minutes left to pull the game within one, though DC was able to holdoff the Bulldogs for the rest of the game.

Defiance outshot the Bulldogs 20-12. Jeff Meyer had four saves, including a breakaway opportunity in the first half, while Ryan O’Keefe saved six shots for Adrian.

Defiance improves to 2-3-0, .while Adrian drops to 2-2-1. The Yellow Jackets host Tri-State University on Saturday at noon.
