GREENWOOD, Ind. Defiance College seniors Brandon Morgan (Boiling Springs, Pa./Boiling Springs) and Ryan Rothermel (Delaware, Ohio/Fairborn) were named to the All-HCAC Second Team on Thursday, November 8 for their performance throughout the season.
Morgan played in 16 games at keeper for the Jackets, racking up over 100 saves for the second consecutive year. His 109 saves ranked first in the conference, while he finished tied for third in shutouts with two. His two shutouts came against HCAC foes Mount St. Joseph and Bluffton.
“Brandon was our most improved player this season,” head coach Alden Lawrence said. “He kept us in games and did a great job instilling confidence in some of our younger players.”
Rothermel, a captain, earned his second All-HCAC honor this season, after being named an All-HCAC Second Team selection in 2005. The defender finished with one assist on the season, heading a ball to teammate Benji Hughes to force Franklin College into a draw. He finished his career with two goals and four assists, while starting 65 games at DC.
Ryan is a very selfless player, he is a hard worker who leads by example,” said Lawrence. “He did great job challenging and winning headers, while playing through an injury.”
