BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Defiance College men’s soccer team won its second consecutive game with a 2-0 victory over rival Bluffton University on Tuesday, October 2. The win moves DC to 2-1 in the HCAC and 2-8 overall.
The Jackets broke a score-less tie in the 59th minute as freshman Chris Kessler gave Defiance a 1-0 lead on a shot from inside the box. DC would add an insurance goal in the final minute of the match as Brad Cannon scored on a feed by Joshua Brumsfield, giving him goals in consecutive matches.
Benji Hughes and Steven Gallagher each had three shots for DC, while Brumsfield and Cannon totaled two apiece. Defiance won despite being outshot 16-13 over the course of the game, however eight the Jackets’ shots were on goal.
Brandon Morgan played another spectacular game in goal for Defiance. The senior keeper tallied six saves and has now played just over 265 straight minutes of scoreless soccer.
