Defiance Drops Nail-Biter to Hanover 1-0

DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Defiance College men’s soccer team fell to 2-3-1 in the conference with a 1-0 loss to Hanover College on Saturday, October 20. The Jackets are now tied for fifth in the HCAC with two games remaining.

In a match where the wind caused problems all day long, Hanover held on to win after scoring the game’s only goal just three minutes into the contest. DC keeper Brandon Morgan rebounded from the early goal, preventing the last 21 shots from finding the net. The Boiling Springs, Pa. native collected 10 saves on the day, giving him 93 on the season.

The Jackets, who had nine shots on the day, saw several great shots knocked away by Hanover keeper Michael Hansford down the stretch. Steven Gallagher, Ryan Rothermel and Anthony Cornell each had two shots for Defiance.

The Yellow Jackets, 3-11-1, return to action on Wednesday, October 24, when the Spartans of Manchester College. Kick-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
