Wilkins Named HCAC Player of the Week

DC's Joel Wilkins has been named HCAC Player of the Week for his play against Anderson University and Hanover College.

Wilkins continued his great play in 2004 scoring two goals this week in important HCAC wins over Manchester and Hanover, keeping the Jackets in first place. Wilkins scored both goals on penalty kicks, with the first score coming at the 57-minute mark against the Spartans, putting the Jackets on the board in a game they eventually came back and won 3-2 in overtime.

The junior’s second score came in the 15th minute against the Panthers, on a penalty kick that put DC up 2-0 in the eventual 3-1 win.

The Jackets are now 3-0-0 in the Heartland Conference and 7-5-2 overall. Wilkins has two assists on the season to go along with his two goals this week. He is 2-for-2 on penalty kicks in 2004.
