DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Defiance College men’s soccer team dropped its home finale, 8-2, to Manchester College on Wednesday, October 24. The Jackets fall to 2-4-1 in HCAC play with the loss.
Trailing at the break, Defiance picked up the intensity scoring just minutes into the second period as Anthony Cornell broke free of his marker to score on a pass by Robbie Williamson. Cornell’s sixth goal in the last three games put DC on the board, narrowing the deficit to 4-1. Manchester would respond with another flurry of goals, before Steven Gallagher scored off a feed by Brad Cannon in the 89th minute to round out the scoring.
Defiance finished the contest with eight shots, led by Gallagher’s four shots and Cannon’s three shots. Yellow Jacket keeper Brandon Morgan reached the 100-save plateau on the season, collecting eight on the day.
The Yellow Jackets, 3-12-1, return to action on Saturday, October 27, when they travel to Anderson University to wrap up the season. Kick-off is scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
