CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Defiance College men’s soccer team broke into the winner’s column for the first time this season with a 1-0 victory over Mount St. Joseph. The Jackets improve to 1-1 in HCAC and 1-8 overall with the win.
After a scoreless 90 minutes, Brad Cannon ended the suspense with a game-winner less than 40 seconds into the extra period to give the Jackets a 1-0 victory. Defiance had season-highs in both total shots (18) and shots on goal (11) on its way to its first victory of the season. Steven Gallagher and Benji Hughes led DC with three shots on goal apiece. Brandon Morgan picked up the shut-out victory in goal for the Jackets, collecting five saves over the course of the game.
The Yellow Jackets return to action on Tuesday, October 2, when they travel to Bluffton University for a HCAC matchup. The match is set to begin at 4:00 p.m.
