DC Men’s Soccer tripped up by Polar Bears

ADA, Ohio—The Defiance College men’s soccer team fell to a tough Ohio Northern University squad on Saturday afternoon, 1-4, in Ada, Ohio.

The Bears scored twice in the first half, first on a breakaway by Jon Rolfe and second on a Marc Pupillo. Joel Wilkins then brought the Jackets to within one with a goal in the 58th minute off a deflection. Northern later tacked on two late-game goals by Aaron Lecklider and another by Rolfe.

Jeff Meyer had 11 saves in goal for DC, while the Jackets were outshot 9-15. DC had 18 fouls compared to nine for ONU and were outkicked from the corners, 6-10.

The Jackets are now 1-3-0 and will next host Adrian on Wednesday, September 14th at 4:00 p.m.

AC is 1-1-1 overall after beating Bluffton 3-2 in their season opener, tying Manchester 2-2 in their second game and falling 0-2 at Seina Heights on Tuesday. They also play Concordia (Mich.) on Sunday.
