Kurtz Garners All-HCAC Honors for Third Time

GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference announced its 2008 Men’s Tennis All-Conference Team on Wednesday, naming Tim Kurtz as an All-HCAC selection for the third-straight year.

Kurtz helped Defiance College to a 4-4 record in league games and the fifth seed in the HCAC Tournament by posting a 9-4 record in those eight matches. The junior solidified the Yellow Jacket lineup, posting a 5-3 record in singles and a 4-1 mark in doubles play from the No. 1 slot ... (read more)

Men's Tennis Falls to Hanover in HCAC Tourney

INDIANAPOLIS – The Defiance College men’s tennis team saw its 2008 season come to a close on Saturday in the form of a 5-3 loss to fourth-seeded Hanover College in the first round of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament on Saturday.

The Jackets earned the fifth seed for the tournament after winning four of its last five matches in league play to draw even at 4-4 in conference action. One of those four defeats came to Hanover back on April 5 by a 5-2 score.
