Jacket Tennis drops first two matches

DEFIANCE, Ohio—The Defiance College men’s tennis squad fell in its season-opening matches at the University of Findlay and Baldwin-Wallace College this past weekend

In the 1-6 loss to BW, the Yellow Jackets secured two doubles wins. Stefan Faerber and Tim Kurtz downed James Daly and Jim Kucera at #1 doubles, while Jeff Meyer and Karl Eustache beat Ryan McCartney and Dan Mitoff at #3 doubles.

Tyler Ault took Mitoff to three sets, 6-2, 6-7 (5), 7-6 (9), before falling at #6 singles. DC’s Adam Fausey did the same at #3 singles, losing to McCartney, 6-2, 5-7, 6-2.

The Yellow Jackets fell 3-6 to the Oilers on Friday. Kurtz beat Michael Sarno at #2 singles, while Defiance’s Adam Fausey beat Staven Fox, 7-6, 7-5. Ault also scored a win at the #6 spot, 6-4, 6-3, over Orry Kennedy.

The Jackets, 0-2, will next travel to Transylvania to face the Pioneers and Franklin College to open the Heartland Conference season on Saturday, February 25.
