| ADRIAN, Mich. Defiance College posted its first win of the season on Tuesday evening at Adrian College. The Yellow Jackets swept the top four singles matches and scored a 9-8 thriller at the No. 3 doubles contest to secure the 5-4 win over the Bulldogs.
Tim Kurtz, Adam Fausey and Lachmon Bratton all recorded straight-set wins at No. 1, 3 and 4 singles and Austin Kleman pulled out a 6-4, 3-6, 7-5 victory over Orlo Yeagley at the No. 2 singles position to give Defiance the 4-2 edge in singles action.
Adrian won at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, but the Defiance duo of Bratton and Cottos pulled out a 7-2 tiebreaker for the 9-8 win at No. 3 to give DC a decisive point in the match.
Defiance (1-1) will head south this weekend to play eight matches during spring break in Hilton Head, S.C. The Jackets will get things started on Sunday with a match against Ohio Wesleyan (1-3).
