Butler and Faerber named All-HCAC

DEFIANCE, Ohio—Nathan Butler and Stefan Faerber have both been named to the men’s tennis All-Heartland Conference squad after outstanding 2005 seasons.

Butler became the first Yellow Jacket to win an HCAC Tennis title when he won the #2 singles tournament last weekend in Indianapolis. The Napoleon native defeated fellow all-conference honoree Joe Merrick of Franklin College to capture the crown.

Faerber finished third in #1 singles play last weekend, defeated another All-HCAC member Cameron Scott of Anderson, 6-3, 6-0 to take the third-place contest.

The 2005 Yellow Jackets set a school record for wins with 10, winning six out of their last eight dual matches and ending the HCAC season with a first-ever winning record at 4-3.

DC’s third-place finish at the conference tournament is also their highest ever and an improvement from their sixth place finish one season ago.
