Yellow Jacket Tennis undefeated in conference play

DEFIANCE, Ohio- The DC Yellow Jacket Men’s Tennis team earned two victories over HCAC opponents Anderson University and the College of Mount St. Joseph by the scores 5-4 and 9-0, respectively.

In the match against Anderson University, Tim Kurtz and Tyler Ault picked up a win in #2 doubles, as well as Jared Sponseller and Jeff Meyer keeping their win streak intact in #3 doubles, as the run extends to nine consecutive victories.

Stefan Faerber won in #1 singles play against Cameron Scott 6-3, 6-2, as well as Kurtz defeating Jeremy Zerkle by the score 7-6 (7-2), 6-2. In a thrilling finish to the match, Tyler Ault defeated Brad Simcoe 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 in #6 singles with the overall score tied at 4 to give DC the team win.

Against MSJ, DC was able to cruise to victory as the team picked up wins in every match. Meyer and Sponseller’s double match, as well as Ault’s #6 singles match, were won by default. Junior Mike Mack picked up his first win of the year, beating Tom Bowman 6-2, 6-1 in #4 singles.

The Yellow Jackets (6-9, 2-0 HCAC) are now on a four-match win streak, their longest under the tenure of Brad Harsha. They hope to continue that streak tomorrow at home against Transylvania University at 2:00 p.m.
