Men’s Tennis evens conference record with sweep

DEFIANCE, Ohio - With a perfect 9-0 sweep against Bluffton University, the Defiance College Men’s Tennis team moves to 2-2 in the HCAC.
Cody Nash picked up his first conference win of the season in singles play with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Ryan Thomas in the #4 flight. Nate Schwarzbek also won his first conference singles match of the year, defeating Luke Roeschley 6-1, 6-1 in the #5 flight.
Mike Mack and Tyler Ault each improved their singles conference records to 3-1, as Mack beat Tom Heil 6-2, 6-0 in #6 singles and Ault won 6-2, 7-5 over Sean Williams.
Mack, along with Schwarzbek, also defeated Heil and Roeschley 8-1 in #3 doubles to win his first doubles match this year in conference play. Nash also achieved the same feat, as he and Ault defeated Williams and Tim Kauffman 8-3 in #1 doubles.
Tim Kurtz and Ashton Converse each moved to 5-3 overall on the year in the HCAC with a pair of singles and doubles wins. The two teamed up for an 8-3 win over Thomas and Daniel Tinch in the #2 flight.
The 9-0 victory is DC’s first undefeated win of the year and the second against Bluffton in as many tries. Last year, DC won by the same margin when the team hosted the Beavers on April 11.
Defiance (3-10, 2-2 HCAC) plays its rescheduled tri-match against Mount St. Joseph and Franklin Friday afternoon at 2:00 p.m.
