DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Defiance College Men’s Tennis began its 2007 campaign with a pair of matches this past weekend against Baldwin-Wallace College and Division II University of Findlay. Unfortunately for the team, the Jackets were unable to pick up a win in either team, falling to Baldwin-Wallace 8-1 on Saturday and 7-2 to Findlay Sunday morning.

Against B-W, DC's lone win came via Tyler Ault and Ashton Converse, who were able to defeat Zach Long and Dan Mitoff in No. 2 Doubles by the score 8-1.

Ault also gave B-W's Zach Apperson all he could handle in their No. 4 singles meeting. Ault could not keep the momentum going after taking the first set 6-1. Apperson would eventually rally back to take the next two sets, with the final score 1-6, 6-1, 6-3.

Despite the overnight freezing rain that slicked the courts at Findlay, both team overcame the suboptimal playing conditions to complete its scheduled match.

Both of DC's wins came via singles play, as Ault defeated UF's Jitrat Jaideey 7-5, 6-0 for his first singles win of the year.

Lone senior Mike Mack also recorded his first singles win of the year, this time against Jeremy Jackson with a 9-7 victory.

Defiance (0-2) will have the rest of the week off before heading to Lexington to take on Transylvania University and Franklin College in a tri-match that serves as the beginning of conference play.
