DEFIANCE, Ohio - After having a series of matches postponed due to inclement weather, the DC Yellow Jacket Men's Tennis played its first home match of the season, gaining a win over Goshen College on Monday afternoon, 7-2.
The match was DC's first since spring break, but the team showed no signs of rust, as all but one of the Jackets' match wins were in straight sets. Jared Sponseller and Jeff Meyer picked up their seventh straight win in #3 doubles, defeating Tim Yoder and Matt Harris 8-4. Stefan Faeber and Adam Fausey picked up a win in #1 doubles by the score 8-6, while Tim Kurtz and Tyler Ault gained a victory in #2 doubles as well, also by the score 8-6. This is the first time this season that all three doubles pairs have won in a match.
In singles play, Faerber picked up his second #1 singles win of the year, beating Mickey Girma 6-3, 6-1. Ault's 6-3, 6-1 win over Jason Yoder in #6 singles put his singles season record over the .500 mark, as he is now 6-5 in the #6 draw.
The Jackets, 3-9 on the year, play their second of four matches this week, hosting Adrian College Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
