TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Defiance kicked off its 2008 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference schedule on Saturday with a pair of matches at Rose-Hulman. The Yellow Jackets fell 5-2 to Hanover on the neutral courts, before being swept by the host Engineers.
DC failed to take a doubles match on the afternoon and only scored two wins in singles play. Tim Kurtz and Adam Fausey came away with wins against Hanover in the No. 1 and 2 singles contests.
The Jackets (4-10, 0-2 HCAC) will play two more league matches on Sunday. DC will play Mount St. Joseph and Franklin on the Grizzlies’ home courts starting at 9:00 am.
