Men's Tennis splits HCAC tri-match

HANOVER, Ind. - The Defiance College Men's Tennis picked up its first conference win of the 2007 season en route to splitting two conference matchups against Manchester College and Hanover College. DC won its match against Manchester 7-2 before falling to Hanover 1-8.

DC swept all three of its doubles matches for the first time all season in the win against Manchester. Tim Kurtz and Cody Nash had an 8-6 victory over Andrew Tkacs and Joel Richard in #1 singles while Nate Schwarzbek and Mike Mack earned the 8-3 win over Aaron Foster and Dustin Schutte in #3 doubles.

Tyler Ault and Ashton Converse rounded out the doubles sweep with the 8-2 in the #2 flight over Josh Sollenberger and Jordan Rothrock.

Kurtz, Ault, Converse, and Mack pulled out wins in their singles matches to give DC the win.

Against Hanover, DC had a more difficult time against the competition, as Ashton Converse and Tim Kurtz provided the lone win for the Jackets in #2 doubles, outlasting Evan Campbell and Sam Pollom 9-8.

Defiance (2-9, 1-1 HCAC) will head to Terre Haute, Indiana for another HCAC tri-match this Friday. The Jackets will be taking on Rose-Hulman at 9:00 a.m. and Bluffton at noon.
