Men's Tennis Picks Up Second Win of the Season

| HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Defiance faced a full slate of action on Wednesday, playing three matches and coming away with one team win and numerous individual victories. DC edged Penn State-Behrend, 5-4, in the final match of the day after suffering losses to Ohio Wesleyan and Mount Union in earlier competition.
The Jackets fell 5-0 in the first match of the day to OWU. The match was called after DC was swept in doubles and the No. 4 and No. 6 singles decisions sealed the team win for Ohio Wesleyan.
Defiance then split the singles matches against Mount Union, but could not overcome the doubles sweep and lost by a 6-3 margin. Tim Kurtz picked up a three-set win at No. 1 singles and was joined in the win column by Adam Fausey at No. 3 and Lachmon Bratton at No. 4.
DC turned the tide in the final match of the day, winning two of three doubles contests to take a 2-1 edge into the singles competition. Wins by Kurtz, Fausey and Bratton at the No. 1, 3 and 4 singles events secured the 5-4 win for the Jackets over PSU-Behrend.
Defiance now stands at 2-5 after the trio of matches on Wednesday and will play two more on Thursday. DC is set to take on Eastern Nazarene at 8:00 am, before challenging North Carolina Central at 3:00 pm.
