| HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Defiance began its week long stay at Hilton Head, S.C. on Monday by taking on Wheaton College. The Yellow Jackets were looking for their second-straight victory after defeating Adrian last week, but instead fell to 1-2 on the young season with a 9-0 loss.
Wheaton controlled the doubles action, blanking Defiance at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles before turning to the Greg Poulin and James Little tandem to complete the sweep with an 8-4 win over Austin Kleman and Adam Fausey at No. 1 doubles.
Defiance could not slow down the Lyons in singles play either, dropping all six contests in straight sets.
Defiance (1-2) will play a pair of matches on Tuesday. The Jackets will take on West Liberty State in a 12:00 pm clash, before playing Penn State-Behrend at 6:00 pm.
