DC’s Sigurdson named to NCAA All-Regional Team
NEW CONCORD, Ohio—Defiance College’s Monica Sigurdson has been named to the 2005 NCAA New Concord All-Regional Tournament Team.
Sigurdson, a sophomore third-baseman from Oregon, Ohio (Clay) hit .556 in DC’s three games at the NCAA Regional Tournament hosted by Muskingum College. Going 5-for-9, Sigurdson drove in three RBI with a .600 on-base percentage. She also fielded 1.000 at third base with 11 assists and four put outs.
On the season, the Clay High School grad hit .273 with two doubles and a home run, driving in 10 runs and fielded at a .944 clip at the hot corner.
Sigurdson helped the Jackets tie for the most wins in school history with a 28-17 record and their second-straight HCAC Tournament Championship.
